To mark her promotion, we asked her a few questions about her professional background.

1. What made you want to work for an advertising agency?

I’ve always had an interest in working on a variety of brands and projects at once. I like working under pressure with tight deadlines. For me, stress is good, it makes me perform better. In an agency, you learn a lot and fast, because things move so quickly. It allows you to always be up to date on new trends and technologies.

And, the work environment is dynamic and collaborative. We all focus on helping each other and I don’t feel that there is a hierarchy.

2. Can you tell us more about your journey at Bloom?

When I started at Bloom, I already had 5 years of experience at another digital agency. I was already familiar with client services, SEM and SEO, but at Bloom, I really learned how to manage client relationships from the ground up.

I started as an Account Manager with a focus on e-commerce, but I was still working with clients who wanted to generate leads and overall brand awareness. I’ve worked with clients from different industries such as real estate, retail, cosmetics, healthcare, pharmaceutical and B2B. Then, after two years as an Account Manager, I was promoted to Team Lead. I already had skills in organization and building strong relationships with clients, and I wanted to put that into practice with my own team.

After two years as a Team Lead, my role evolved to Director of Client Services. My main responsibilities include ensuring efficiency and constantly improving our customer service in collaboration with Jamie, our Director of Client Experience.

Additionally, I am actively involved in the recruitment process. We currently have 10 Account Managers on the team and are looking to recruit new talent (visit our career page for more information).

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My morning always begins with a good cup of coffee to get me going.

Then, I’m on video calls most of the day, whether it’s for 1-1 meetings with Bloomers, client calls, team meetings, interviews with candidates, interdepartmental meetings, training new employees or getting trained myself.

In between calls, I answer emails and client requests, answer questions on Slack, review work, talk with members of other departments to improve our collaboration processes or work on presentations and training.

A typical workday for me is one where time flies and before I know it, it’s already over.

 4. What do you like the most about your job?

My favorite part is the interpersonal aspect with clients or team members. I really feel like we all support each other and that is what helps us move forward. If I can help someone out and teach them something, it makes my day.

Also, we get to know clients on a whole new level. Of course, we build strong business relationships and we talk business during our calls, but we also get to talk on a more personal level and joke around. Some of my clients I have worked with since I began working at Bloom. In these cases, our professional relationship often turns into friendship.

It’s also incredibly rewarding to see campaigns perform well and make a difference for businesses that are looking to grow. It feels good to see a client happy and know that you played a role in their success.

5. What advice would you give to someone who wants to work for a digital agency?

I would tell that person to take the time to do some research and see if the agency’s mission and values match what they are looking for. Ask yourself the following questions: Is this a place where I could see myself growing? Does the job description resonate with me? What can I bring to the company?

The people who thrive in an agency setting are team players, good at building relationships, organized, capable of managing several projects at once, independent, and able to manage stress pretty well.

My main advice about interviews: don’t be scared to sell yourself. Show your personality, talk about your professional background and qualifications, come up with questions about the position and the company, and above all, convince the interviewer why you would be an ideal candidate for the role!
